The Courtesan Punished, from The Story of the Magician Virgil
An engraving in black lines on ivory paper shows a nude woman seated atop a column amid billowing smoke, while men in hats and tunics below gesture and one kneels holding a pot. Towers rise in the distance; the museum identifies the scene as a courtesan punished in the story of Virgil.
