Pen and gray wash drawing of a nude woman embracing a dying man in a forest, with a dog and two putti.

The Death of Adonis

A nude woman leans over a reclining, muscular man whose body sprawls across the foreground, his head tipped back as she clasps him. A dog crouches at the lower left beside a stream, and two winged putti, one above and one at the lower right, watch the scene beneath a draped cloth hung from a tree. Pen and black ink with brush and gray wash.

Look closer: A small winged putto sits at the lower right, holding up a hand near the reclining man's feet.
