The Enlightened Stone Retreat, from Twelve Views of Tiger Hill, Suzhou

A monochrome ink landscape in album-leaf format shows a tiled-roof pavilion at left, a stone-walled terrace with stairs climbing toward it, and two small figures near the steps. Tall trees and craggy rocks fill the right side, with brushwork ranging from fine outlines to soft wash.

Look closer: A small seated figure is visible in the upper window of the pavilion at left.
