The Roman Catholic Chapel, Lincoln's Inn Fields
A hand-colored aquatint of a crowded church interior seen from the nave. Two curved galleries line the sides, filled with spectators, while worshippers in dark and red garments kneel and stand on the floor before a richly decorated altar beneath a domed, arched ceiling. The tall columns and soft tonal shading give the scene an orderly, theatrical depth.
