The Sleeping Rag Vendor, 1902 etching
A dim cellar fills with heaped sacks of rags, lit by a small barred window at upper left where a figure leans. At right a seated woman in a shawl hunches over a bundle, while a sleeper lies sprawled across sacks in the foreground. Dense dark hatching builds the shadows in this black-ink etching on cream paper.
