Title plate, from "Roman Ruins"
An etched title plate shows a crumbling masonry arch and a broken vault opening onto a shadowy interior, with a tumbled rock and vegetation in the foreground. Beside them, a large carved stone tablet bears the lettered title block, framing the ruins as a set of antiquarian views.
Look closer: A small signature 'Seb. Vranck inv.' appears in the lower left corner, and 'W. Hollar sculp.' in the lower right.
