Engraving of a four-horse chariot with a laurel-crowned man in front, a trumpeter and a relief-carved carriage behind.

Triumph of Marcus Aurelius, from "Speculum Romanae Magnificentiae"

An engraving showing a four-horse chariot driven forward through a colonnaded setting. A laurel-wreathed man in a toga stands at the front of the car, his horses in dense ranks of muscle and harness. Behind him a trumpeter raises a long horn beneath an arched doorway, while the car's side panels carry small carved figures in relief. A Latin inscription runs along the bottom margin.

Look closer: A winged figure, likely Victory, hovers above the laurel-crowned man at the top left.
