Two Chinese sages standing under a tree

A hanging scroll with brocade mounting shows a robed figure standing beneath a tree on a rocky outcrop, with pale mist and distant hills above. Painted in ink and light color washes on silk, the muted scene sits small and centered within wide dark-gold mounting.
