General U.S. Grant seated in a rocking chair with cigar

A bearded man in a dark suit and bow tie sits in a cane-backed rocking chair, holding a lit cigar with smoke rising beside him. He wears dark shoes and rests one hand on the chair arm against a soft tan background. A printed label below the frame reads General U.S. Grant, June 1, 1894.
