Venus Beside the Sleeping Adonis, red chalk drawing

A red chalk drawing on paper shows two nude figures in a sketched wooded landscape. A reclining figure lies on the ground with his head turned, while a standing figure with long hair leans toward him, reaching out, beside a tree at left. The loose, sketchy strokes and pale wash of the paper suggest a study from around 1700.
