Sepia drawing of a nude man striding forward with a staff, a crouching animal at lower right, and teal wavy bands along the top and bottom edges.

Verwachting (Expectation), 1913

A nude male figure strides across a sepia-toned field, holding a long staff upward at right, while a hound-like animal crouches low at lower right. Wavy teal bands, suggesting water or cloud, curl across the top and bottom edges. The soft, muted drawing has a cropped, fragmentary composition.
