Sepia photo of circular huts with conical thatched roofs on a grassy plain, with trees behind and a small figure at left.

Yei, Uganda: circular grass-roofed huts, 1900-1910

A sepia photograph of a wide, grassy field with several circular huts topped by tall conical thatched roofs, set among scattered trees on a flat, distant landscape. A small figure stands at the left edge, and the roofs' textured straw contrasts with the dark ground in the foreground.
