Young Girls Dancing before a Grotto

Several classically draped young women dance in a loose circle before a large natural arch in a rocky cliff, while a child and a seated figure watch at left. A tall tree and a flowering hollyhock border the scene, opening onto a distant landscape of trees under a pale sky. The woodblock-printed paper uses muted greens, ochres and rose tones.

Look closer: A small child in white stands near the dancers at the lower center, and a seated figure rests at the lower left.
