Painting of a fierce bearded figure in green robes raising a club and grappling a red demon against a pale silk background.

Zhong Kui (Shoki) Subduing a Demon, Hanging Scroll

A bearded, muscular figure in green and patterned robes strides forward, raising a club overhead while gripping a small red demon beneath his arm. Painted in color on a soft tan silk ground with a dark wash behind the figure, the scene is set against an empty background with a red seal at lower left.
