A bearded, laurel-crowned man sits in a shallow arched niche, his body turned slightly to the left. He wears a draped cloak over one shoulder and sandals, holding a round globe in one hand and a tall staff in the other. The fine cross-hatched lines model the muscles and stone architecture.
Look closer: A small monogram signature appears in the lower left corner of the plate.
