Woodblock print of a kneeling woman reading a book beside a standing woman adjusting a paper lantern, with maple branches and a stream seen through a window.

The Evening Glow of a Lamp (Andon no sekisho), from the series "Eight Views of the Parlor (Zashiki hakkei)"

Two women in a lamplit parlor: a kneeling woman in a dark patterned kimono reads an open book while another, standing at right, tends a tall paper lantern beside sliding screens. Through the window, maple branches and a rocky stream are visible, rendered in soft colors in a traditional Japanese woodblock style.
